Introduced in 1975 as the successor to the now famous 917 the 936 was built to contest the World sports Car Championship in 1976. With a space frame chassis based on the now famous 917 and powered by a flat 6 single turbo charged engine the 936 went of to win the Le Mans in 1977 and a further evolution of the 936 won again in 1981 with Jackie Ickx and Derek Bell.
